Tulsa Buddy Walk Update

During the weekend of September 26-27, we encourage families, friends and community partners to walk (or run) with your team around your home, neighborhood or local park to help us raise money and awareness for Down syndrome as part of our annual Tulsa Buddy Walk. Anyone from any part of the U.S. (or world!) can join us as we walk for the DSAT mission. Make sure to take photos and videos and tag #TulsaBuddyWalk.

Please help us make this event a success. Your support is essential to ensure our organization can continue providing valuable services and resources to the Tulsa community. The Tulsa Buddy Walk is DSAT’s biggest annual fundraiser, and this year it’s no different. All of the money raised will stay in our local community as is used to provide scholarships for families and self-advocates to attend the National Down Syndrome Congress Convention, to provide new parent packets to doctors and hospitals, provide new education and inclusion programs and to support families and individuals with Down syndrome.

Make sure to register your teams and create your fundraising page to help us raise money to sustain our current programs at www.ds-stride.org/tulsabuddywalk. You may also purchase the official Tulsa Buddy Walk 2020 t-shirt and 2021 DSAT calendar on our website.

Celebrate your way! After your walk (or run), instead of having an in-person Tulsa Buddy Walk this year, we encourage everyone to organize personal celebrations! We only ask that Buddy Walk team captains follow state and CDC guidelines to keep everyone healthy.

Celebration Ideas:
Cocktails for a Cause – Celebrate with cocktails and appetizers.
Picnic by the Park – Grill out and cook up your favorite treats at a nearby park.
Backyard Cookout – Continue the celebration outside at a backyard cookout.
Buddy Brunch – Host a brunch for your team to commemorate the special day.
Neighborhood Night Out – Grab your neighbors and some glow sticks to shine even more light on the Buddy Walk.

“Buddy Drive” Car Parade
On Sunday, September 27 at 11:00 a.m. we will host a “Buddy Drive” car parade at Holland Hall!
Before arriving at Holland Hall for the parade, decorate your vehicle with your team’s name or the person you love with Down syndrome. Make it fun and be creative! The parade will include appearances by Elsa and Spiderman, fun music from the stadium, cheerleaders, band members and more!
More information about the parade route and line-up instructions coming soon.

Virtual Dance Party
Help us wrap-up our Tulsa Buddy Walk weekend with a virtual dance party on Sunday, September 27 at 7:00 p.m. More details coming soon.
